By the time you’re my age, you’ll realize that everything you once thought mattered so much turns out to mean very little.

Who am I?

My name is Israel Hinojosa Baliño (aka Ishiba Ro). I am a Mexican archaeologist specialised in landscapes, urbanism, politics, and the Middle East; open-source enthusiast, software developer, and creative writer.
I study how societies organise space to stabilise settlements and political systems in environmentally dynamic landscapes. My research combines archaeology, spatial analysis, and historical interpretation to investigate the long-term persistence of urban and territorial systems.
I’ve experience in Mexico, Egypt, Kuwait and the US. My work integrates archaeology excavation and survey, GIS, computational methods and data science. I am a writer and coder, sharing interests in fantasy and science fiction writing, as well as Python and R scripts.
